About This Place

Welcome to Simona Cafe, a charming gem nestled at 35 N St NE in Washington, DC. This delightful cafe has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, thanks to its inviting atmosphere and exceptional offerings. As a food reviewer of Grubbio, I can confidently say that Simona Cafe embraces the essence of a perfect coffee stop—whether you’re in search of a meticulously brewed espresso or a cozy nook to unwind with a book.

At Simona Cafe, coffee is an art. They feature a selection of drip coffee and espresso that showcases the rich flavors of their Birdie Blend, sourced from Brazil, Mexico, and Ethiopia. For only $4, you can savor a smooth Americano or indulge in a creamy latte priced at $5.50. The cafe also excels in cold brews, with offerings like the seasonal fall special—a cold brew with housemade cinnamon-spiced syrup that is rich, full-bodied, and utterly delightful whether enjoyed pure or with a splash of cream.

But coffee is only part of the allure. The cafe boasts a selection of pastries that are equally inviting. A standout is the housemade chocolate chip cookie, priced at $4, which has garnered rave reviews for its warm, gooey texture that perfectly complements a warm cup of brew. Croissants, both butter and chocolate varieties, add a touch of breakfast bliss to your visit. Customers like Avinash Bhogun have praised the atmosphere, highlighting the spacious decor and welcoming service, making each visit a pleasure.

The reviews reflect a consistent appreciation for the ambiance, with many noting how Simona Cafe provides the ideal setting for work, study, or casual meet-ups with friends. Mariam Asal remarked on the great vibe—a perfect mix of good music at just the right volume, allowing for both conversation and concentration. The friendly staff, like Jesse, are noted for their expertise in crafting drinks that keep patrons coming back.

While not every experience may be flawless, like Midori Grabowski’s remark on pricing, the general consensus is that Simona Cafe is well worth a visit. It stands out not just for its coffee but also for a sense of community, where every sip and bite brings a sense of comfort and indulgence. Whether you're a seasoned coffee enthusiast or simply in search of a quaint spot to relax, Simona Cafe promises an experience worth relishing.

Great place: friendly staff, good drinks, and excellent service. I loved the vibe in this café. It’s the kind of spot where you can read a book, work on your laptop, or meet up with friends. Jesse had a great attitude and made a perfect matcha. Thank you! The music selection was good, and the volume was just right. I usually leave cafés if the music is too distracting, but that definitely wasn’t the case here. This one’s officially on my list of favorite cafés and recommendations

Found this spot via google maps and was near the hotel during my stay in DC. A very spacious and beautiful place! I loved the decor and style. The person serving me was very welcoming and helpful, they eventually made my coffee. This place is card only and no cash. I opted for a cookie which was amazing and I appreciated the coffee cup! Very nice. I only deducted a star as my coffee was lukewarm otherwise a 5* establishment.

Really lovely atmosphere and the taste of the coffee is great! I ordered and oatmilk latte which came to $7.15 pre-tip. I will say it felt a little overpriced and the service was subpar. Overall it is a good place to visit but not my favorite coffee shop experience.

This is by far one of my favorite coffee spots in DC! The staff is always so great and respectful and the food is awesome as well. Whether it is to study, work, or catch up with a friend, I would highly recommend Simona Cafe!

I found out about sweet science coffee in the daily coffee news. I realized I had to go and I walked over 40 minutes to get there and back. I would have walked much, much further. I have been to many coffee shops in many cities in the United States and most have pastries. This coffee shop pastries are beyond outstanding. So much so that I left with two bags of the pastries. Even if you are not a coffee drinker it's worth going simply for the pastries. They have two talented pastry chefs on-site and that makes all the difference. It is also my understanding that in the afternoon there is a different pastry offering which I have not yet had the pleasure of trying. When it comes to the coffee this is a very unique shop in that they have your typical espresso drinks but with very great coffees. In the multiple brewing area, which opens at 10:00 a.m. daily, those really interested exploring the limitless bounds of coffee flavors will be delighted with all the options. Hopefully, the photos will give you a good idea of the ever-changing coffee options and the available brewing methods. One of the very unique aspects of this coffee shop is that they determine which brew method is the best for a specific coffee and yes you should leave it to the professionals. I see this more and more at the better coffee shops where they will use the brew method that best suits the coffees flavor profile. You will have the opportunity to taste coffee flavors that you would never think are possible. Enjoy.

Stayed in DC a few days and this place was solid. Kids and I loved the chocolate croissants and this place knows how to make an actual cappuccino. No, it's not a place where you order one and they give you a latte no matter what you order. This place has great espresso. All about the beans and this place has em.
